On June 16, Gwangju City held the launch ceremony for the Bitgoeul 50+ Job Project in the large conference room at City Hall, officially beginning social contribution job activities for the middle-aged population.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang Kijeong, participants of the Bitgoeul 50+ Job Project, representatives from dispatching organizations, and members of the middle-aged generation, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to this new beginning. The event included an introduction to the main aspects of the 50+ Job Project, a pledge by participants, and a special lecture.

The Bitgoeul 50+ Job Project is part of Gwangju City's "Middle-Aged 50+ Policy." It is a life redesign job initiative that supports retired middle-aged individuals with experience and expertise in providing valuable services to the local community. Through this project, participants can seek reemployment opportunities and establish a foundation for contributing to the community.

The city has expanded the scale of the project compared to last year, increasing the number of job participants from 250 to 280 and newly discovering additional fields to enhance job diversity. This year, a total budget of 982 million KRW will be invested across nine fields.

The project fields include: ▲50+ Cultural Facility Support Team ▲Operations Support Eum Partner ▲Fun City Gwangju Online Promotion Support Team ▲Traditional Market Safety Supporters ▲Mudeungsan Disaster Safety Support Team ▲Brain Block & Book Play Activity Support Team ▲Social Service Safety Guardians ▲Bitgoeul Traveling Chef ▲Mobile Horticulture Activity Specialist (new). Participants will be active for five to seven months.

The city plans to continue expanding social participation opportunities for the middle-aged and to keep discovering customized jobs for each stage of life.

One citizen participating in the project stated, "I will do my best for the local community based on the experience I have accumulated so far," and added, "As a member of the middle-aged generation, I will take the lead in making Gwangju a 'city of opportunity where tomorrow shines.'"

Mayor Kang Kijeong said, "The middle-aged individuals participating in the Bitgoeul 50+ Job Project have gathered to share the knowledge, experience, and know-how they have gained through industrialization, democratization, and the IMF crisis, and to serve society. These are admirable adults, equipped with bodies, minds, and spirits that are second to none. Gwangju City will spare no effort to support them so that they can work joyfully and so that their experience and capabilities can contribute to the development of the local community," he emphasized.
