Seeking the Winners of the 1st Gokseong County Beautiful Scenery Award 'The 1st Gokseong County Beautiful Scenery Award' Contest Poster. Provided by Gokseong County

On June 16, Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced that it will hold the '1st Gokseong County Beautiful Scenery Award' contest to discover beautiful landscapes lovingly maintained by residents in their daily lives and to promote a culture of voluntary landscape management.

This contest is open to privately owned buildings and gardens located in Gokseong. It aims to uncover and widely publicize hidden beautiful everyday landscapes.

The contest features two categories: ▲Beautiful Buildings and ▲Beautiful Private Gardens. Anyone, whether individuals such as owners or groups, may participate. Applicants must submit an application form along with photos and related materials either in person at the relevant Gokseong County office, or by mail or email, by July 11.

The county plans to conduct a document review and on-site evaluation of the submitted entries, and will present awards in each category, including the Grand Prize (prize money of 1.5 million KRW), the Excellence Award (prize money of 1 million KRW), and Participation Awards. In particular, a plaque for the 'Gokseong County Beautiful Scenery Award' will be specially installed at the Grand Prize-winning site to officially certify the beauty created by residents.

A county official stated, "This contest was organized to share the beautiful landscapes that residents have cultivated themselves," and added, "The distinguished scenery of Gokseong is created together with the residents, not solely by the administration."

Meanwhile, the winning entries will be introduced through various media, including the county's website and social media, and will be used as representative examples of Gokseong's landscapes in the future. For more details, please refer to the county website or contact the Landscape Design Team of the Urban Economy Division.
