This large-scale joint fire drill, held at the main administration building of National Pukyong University, mobilized approximately 30 vehicles, including fire engines, ambulances, and ladder trucks. The purpose of the training was to establish an organic and cooperative response system between organizations, enabling a swift and systematic response in the event of a fire.

About 50 members from National Pukyong University and approximately 120 from the fire station participated, totaling around 170 people. In addition to the two main organizations, more than 10 groups, including the police, Busan Nam-gu Office, and emergency rescue support agencies, also took part in the drill.

The training simulated a large-scale fire caused by a fire, explosion, and gas leak in the basement of the university’s main administration building. The exercise began at 2:00 p.m. and lasted for about one hour.

In the first stage, the university’s self-defense fire brigade reported the fire, evacuated people, and carried out initial fire suppression. In the second stage, the first responders from the Busan Nambu Fire Station arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, conduct rescue operations, operate a temporary emergency medical station, and manage on-site response teams.

In the third stage, high-rise rescue operations were carried out using specialized vehicles, and the emergency rescue control team was activated under the assumption of an unidentified gas leak. In the fourth stage, a rescue team was deployed to simulate the isolation of firefighters and conduct secondary fire suppression. The fifth and final stage involved recovery and clean-up operations, followed by a debriefing session to conclude the training.

Notably, for the first time among national universities, students from the Department of Fire Protection Engineering at National Pukyong University, which was established 20 years ago, also participated in the drill and supported the evacuation training.
