Yuhan Foundation announced on June 16 that it recently held a board meeting and appointed Won Heemok, a distinguished professor at Seoul National University, as its new chairman.

The newly appointed chairman, Won Heemok, is an expert who has worked for many years in the fields of healthcare and public policy. He is expected to play a key role in expanding Yuhan Foundation’s public value and fulfilling its social responsibility.

Chairman Won has a wealth of experience contributing to improvements in health and welfare policy and the development of the domestic pharmaceutical and bio industries, having served as president of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association, a member of the 18th National Assembly (Health, Welfare and Family Affairs Committee), president of the Korea Social Security Information Service, and chairman of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association. He currently demonstrates leadership in both public and private sectors as an advisor to the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association, chairman of the Korea Global Health Alliance, and standing representative of the Hope Sharing Council.

Yuhan Foundation stated, "Chairman Won Heemok is a leader who embodies both public-mindedness and innovation, and we expect that he will further strengthen the founding philosophy and social contribution values that Yuhan Foundation pursues."

Chairman Won expressed, "I feel a great sense of responsibility in taking on the role of chairman of Yuhan Foundation, which inherits the spirit of Dr. Yu Ilhan," and added, "I will do my best to help create a better society through various social contribution projects such as education, scholarships, and welfare."

Yuhan Foundation is a public interest corporation established with the entire fortune of the late Yu Ilhan, founder of Yuhan Corporation. It actively carries out public interest projects, focusing on scholarship and educational support for nurturing future talent, as well as encouraging research in technology and culture, recognizing social service workers, social welfare projects, and disaster relief efforts.
