Built to Train 10,000 Riders Annually
Leisure Facilities for Local Residents on Weekends
Baedal Minjok is set to open the ‘Hanam Baemin Rider School,’ which is being built with an investment of 27 billion KRW, during the third quarter of this year. Once the facility opens, it will be able to provide delivery rider training for up to 10,000 people annually, and is expected to contribute to fostering a safer delivery culture.
According to industry sources on June 17, Baemin is expected to open the Hanam Baemin Rider School as early as August or September. The company has planned to begin operations within the third quarter and is currently in the final stages of preparation. Once this facility opens, the existing Baemin Rider School in Namyangju will be relocated, and the scale of training will be significantly expanded. Since opening in 2021, Baemin Rider School has trained more than 15,000 riders in total. The Hanam Baemin Rider School aims to train 10,000 people annually, surpassing the previous scale.
To achieve this, Baemin is constructing the Hanam Baemin Rider School as a three-story facility with a floor area of 8,000 square meters. The training center will enable riders to learn everything from motorcycle safety theory to real-life scenarios that may occur during delivery. The facility will include classrooms for theoretical education, an indoor delivery simulation area, and a safety delivery course. Electric motorcycles will be used throughout the entire training process. Training can be conducted indoors regardless of weather conditions, and riders will be able to experience scenarios such as navigating alleyways and picking up orders after confirming order numbers in a space that simulates actual delivery environments, helping them learn safe delivery practices.
The safety training program will be further advanced and systematized. Baemin has designed the curriculum to cover delivery safety, dividing it into stages for beginner and professional riders. The school also plans to provide safety education for all types of transportation, including walking, bicycles, kickboards, and cars, in addition to motorcycles. The effectiveness of Baemin Rider School’s safety education has been demonstrated through joint research with the Korea Road Traffic Authority, which found that safety driving knowledge and attitudes?key abilities for safe riding?improved by 128% among graduates.
The curriculum will also cover practical topics essential for riders, such as maintenance, tax, and insurance. This reflects feedback from riders themselves. In fact, the online comprehensive income tax lecture for riders at Baemin Rider School has attracted over 700 participants, indicating its popularity.
The Hanam Baemin Rider School will operate training sessions on weekdays only, while on weekends, the facility will be used as a leisure space for local residents. In collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, the school will offer traffic safety education and a variety of experiential programs. There are also plans to introduce electric carts and run traffic safety experience programs for children. A Baemin representative said, “As public interest in delivery motorcycle safety grows, the responsibility of Baemin Rider School is also increasing. With the opening of the Hanam Baemin Rider School, we are preparing to usher in an era of training 10,000 people annually.”
