The National Policy Planning Committee, which will present the blueprint for state administration under the Lee Jaemyung administration, will officially begin its activities this week by receiving briefings from various government ministries. On the 16th, when the National Policy Planning Committee was launched, Jo Seungrae, a member of the Democratic Party serving as the spokesperson for the National Policy Planning Committee, held a briefing related to the first plenary meeting at the Government Seoul Office Building Changseong-dong Annex in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Jo Seungrae, a member of the Democratic Party who serves as spokesperson for the committee, stated during a press briefing held after the first plenary meeting at the Government Seoul Office Building Changseong-dong Annex on the 16th, "This week, starting with the operation committee meeting tomorrow, we will conduct ministry-by-ministry briefings near the Sejong Government Complex over three days from the 18th to the 20th. From next week, the committee will begin full-fledged activities, focusing on each subcommittee to review state policy tasks and government organizational restructuring."
The committee was launched on this day, starting with a signboard unveiling ceremony and the presentation of appointment letters to each member. Its goal is to present the priorities and detailed implementation plans for the new administration's state policy tasks within 60 days from today.
The top priority is government organizational restructuring. This is because the new administration must form its first cabinet only after establishing a stable organizational structure to ensure smooth state administration. Spokesperson Jo explained, "There is a consensus that government organizational restructuring should proceed as quickly as possible. We will make it our top priority to focus on restructuring in order to correct inefficient practices and strengthen government capabilities."
In addition to the seven subcommittees divided by field?National Policy Planning, Economy 1, Economy 2, Society 1, Society 2, Political Administration, and Foreign Affairs and Security?the committee will form separate task forces (TFs) to discuss five to six topics, such as government organizational restructuring and tax reform, that are difficult to categorize by field. Regarding this, spokesperson Jo said, "Task forces will be created when issues arise that cross the boundaries of each subcommittee. Although we have not yet decided which task forces to form or who will be involved, we will organize this within this week, while receiving ministry briefings, and announce it later."
The committee plans to travel to the area near the Sejong Government Complex from the 18th to the 20th to receive briefings from each government ministry over three days. Spokesperson Jo explained, "If possible, rather than bringing Sejong officials up to Seoul, we plan to visit the site ourselves to have discussions. Since the officials are busy responding to current issues, we intend to focus on the key points."
