Daewoo Construction announced on the 16th that it has been selected as the contractor for the reconstruction and maintenance project of the Gangnam Wonhyoseong Villa in Seocho-gu, Seoul. This is the first reconstruction project to be carried out in Banpo Serae Village, which has long been regarded as one of the affluent neighborhoods in the Gangnam area. The construction cost is 15.5 million KRW per 3.3 square meters. By comparison, the recently selected contractor for Hannam District 4 was about 9.4 million KRW per 3.3 square meters.
Through the ongoing reconstruction, a total of 132 residential units in 11 buildings, ranging from 6 basement floors to 4 above-ground floors, as well as auxiliary facilities, will be built. Daewoo Construction has proposed "Trana Serae" as the new name for the complex, which is said to mean "sanctuary." The company explained, "This is a strategically secured complex designed to lead the market as a high-end residential community of between 100 and 300 units, which are rare in Korea, and to embody the values pursued by top-tier residences in cities such as New York, London, and Tokyo."
The existing complex had a height difference of up to 40 meters, which will be reduced to create a level ground appearance. To ensure privacy, the concept of single-family home-style apartment living has been applied. From the entrance, the parking system will resemble private garages, and each building line will have its own elevator, with private elevator halls for each household. All units have at least two open sides, and about half of the homes have three or more open sides.
Unlike typical apartment complexes, the shared facilities for residents will be designed to allow direct contact with nature and will be operated so that each program can be used individually. The company also reported that the inclusion of a studio in each home, which residents can use as needed, received a positive response from association members.
