Applications accepted until the 27th
Deployment to agricultural sites

Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for candidates for the '2026 Successor Agricultural Business Operator Industrial Skilled Personnel' program until June 27.

According to the city on June 16, the Industrial Skilled Personnel system is an alternative military service program established under Articles 36 and 38 of the Military Service Act. It allows young people interested in agriculture to be assigned as industrial skilled personnel and deployed to the farming sector, as long as it does not affect the replenishment of military resources.

The program is also intended to address military service obligations among young people, alleviate labor shortages in rural areas, and systematically train professional agricultural personnel. Selected industrial skilled personnel will serve in the agricultural sector after completing three weeks of military training: 34 months for those subject to active duty and 23 months for those in supplementary service.

However, there are restrictions on eligibility. Individuals who are currently enrolled in university or on a leave of absence, or who have a family member already assigned as industrial skilled personnel, are not eligible to apply.

Applicants must visit the Human Resources Development Team of the Rural Support Division at the city's Agricultural Technology Center in person to apply. Further details can be found on the city hall website.

Lee Yonggwan, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "By encouraging young people to fulfill their alternative military service in the agricultural sector, we expect that talented and capable young people will be stably introduced into rural areas."
