On June 16, LX International announced that it had conducted an overseas field training program for second-year employees to visit its business sites in Indonesia. Eleven employees participated in the training, which was held over seven days and six nights from June 8 to June 14. Each participant was able to choose one site to visit?either a bituminous coal mine, a palm plantation, or a hydropower plant?based on their job function and prior business trip experience.
Indonesia is a strategic region where LX International’s investment assets and business operations are concentrated. The company began full-scale resource development in 2007 by investing in a bituminous coal mine, and has rapidly expanded its business in Indonesia by making additional investments in palm plantations and hydropower plants. Last year, LX International acquired management rights to the AKP mine on Sulawesi Island, securing the first overseas nickel mine for a Korean company and further diversifying its business portfolio.
LX International explained that the employee field training program is not limited to simple site visits, but instead focuses on providing immersive, hands-on experiences that allow participants to truly sense the realities of the field.
Through a pre-orientation, participants learn about the Indonesian region and each business site. On site, they engage in job shadowing?following senior employees in tasks such as production, shipping, and facility management?enabling them to experience and understand the operational methods and job characteristics firsthand.
Since 2009, LX International has consistently run training programs for entry-level employees to visit major overseas business sites. An LX International representative stated, "Overseas field training provides employees with an opportunity to experience the reality of global business and to broaden their perspective," adding, "We plan to expand our field-oriented talent development programs."
