Deputy Mayor Kim began his public service career in 1996 as a Grade 7 civil servant. He has held key positions such as Director of Cultural Policy, Director of Tourism City, Director of Tourism Promotion, and Director of Accounting in Gwangju City. He is recognized as a practical administrator with strengths in both policy planning and on-the-ground execution.
Until recently, he served as Director of Culture and Sports of Gwangju City, where he focused on revitalizing local culture and expanding the tourism infrastructure. With his extensive practical experience and policy insight, Deputy Mayor Kim is expected to play a central role in strengthening field administration closely connected to residents' daily lives and enhancing the execution of major district initiatives.
Deputy Mayor Sungbae Kim stated, "I feel a great sense of responsibility to serve in Seo-gu, the heart of Gwangju and a 'good city' that practices the values of sharing and solidarity. Together with District Mayor Lee Kang Kim and over 1,000 public officials, I will carefully attend to the lives of our residents and do my utmost to ensure the success of Seo-gu's 8th popularly elected administration."
Meanwhile, former Deputy Mayor Baek Namin has retired early.
