Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Kimyung), announced on the 16th that it had conducted promotional activities for the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo on the 13th, targeting about 200 members of the Goyang Honam Association Federation.
The city introduced the outline of the Islands Expo and distributed promotional leaflets, thereby raising the interest and expectations of association members for this international event to be held in Yeosu.
Kim, a member of the association who attended the event, said, "Visiting my hometown brings back new feelings," and pledged, "I will actively promote the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo when I return to Goyang City so that the event can be held successfully."
A city official stated, "Through this promotional activity, we hope that association members will understand the significance of the Islands Expo and spread the word to their families and acquaintances," adding, "We will continue to promote the Islands Expo to various visiting groups in the future."
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be held from September 5 to November 4 next year. At the main venue, Dolsan Jinmo District, visitors will be able to experience a variety of programs, including eight exhibition halls such as the Islands Theme Pavilion and World Islands Restaurant, as well as themed zones focusing on islands around the world and Korean islands.
At the secondary venues, Gaedo and Geumodo, hands-on programs such as family island camps and Island Trekking will be operated, while international academic conferences and other events are scheduled to take place at the Yeosu World Expo venue.
