Muju County to Inspect 'Agricultural Facilities' for Monsoon Preparedness Until June 30

Major Crops Including Rice, Peppers, and Ginseng

Muju County in North Jeolla Province began inspecting agricultural facilities on June 16 to prepare for heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, and is also focusing on providing guidance for crop management techniques.

According to the county, the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center is operating a comprehensive farming situation room, and more than 30 agricultural counseling office directors, including guidance and research staff, are visiting all six towns and townships in rotation until June 30.

On-site, they are inspecting major crops such as rice, peppers, and ginseng, as well as facilities, and sharing facility management guidelines including drainage maintenance, repairs of plastic greenhouse coverings, and ventilation window inspections.

In addition, when weather advisories are issued, the county sends text messages to all farms for disaster response, and provides guidance on crop-specific pest and disease control, as well as pre- and post-management techniques during the monsoon period, in order to minimize damage.

Shin Sangbeom, director of the Muju County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "The administration is acting swiftly to prevent damage from the early monsoon and localized heavy rains," and added, "We will do our best not only in inspections and guidance, but also in promoting preventive measures to minimize damage."
