Total Project Cost of 610.5 Billion KRW, Led by Taeyoung Construction
Taeyoung Construction Consortium announced on the 16th that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the detailed design of the 'Gwacheon Umyeonsan Urban Expressway Relocation (Underground) Construction Project' by Korea Land and Housing Corporation.
The total project cost for this construction is 610.5 billion KRW, with Taeyoung Construction as the lead company holding a 35% stake. The consortium also includes Daewoo Engineering & Construction (25%), KCC Engineering & Construction (12%), Dowon ENC (8%), Youngjin General Construction (4%), Shinheung Construction (4%), GI (4%), ESI (4%), and Geumdo Construction (4%). The design will be jointly handled by Yooshin and Kyungdong Engineering, among others.
The project will be carried out over a total length of 3.04 km, spanning from Makgye-dong to the Juam-dong area in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. It includes one underground roadway (2.84 km), two pedestrian overpasses, two soundproof tunnels, an interchange (IC), and intersections.
In this bid, the Taeyoung Construction Consortium received high marks for proposing the conversion of an elevated roadway to an underground roadway, an eco-friendly vegetative soundproof tunnel, a multifunctional gateway-type pedestrian overpass featuring media glass, and the application of smart construction technologies.
Taeyoung Construction has consecutively won public projects through technology-based bidding, including the 'Cheongju Multipurpose Indoor Gymnasium' in March this year, 'Dongtan 11th High School and 3 other bridges' in May, and the 'Gwacheon Umyeonsan Urban Expressway Relocation Project' in June. The company continues to demonstrate its technological capabilities and stable construction competence, even amid a downturn in the real estate market.
A representative from Taeyoung Construction stated, "Our competitiveness in winning public projects in the civil engineering and construction sectors has been proven once again," adding, "Through responsible construction and thorough quality control, we aim to create facilities that will satisfy not only road users but also all citizens of Gwacheon, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the region's value."
