[Breaking] Court Grants Bail to Former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun

Kim Yonghyun, former Minister of National Defense, who has been detained and on trial for charges of insurrection, has been conditionally released and will now stand trial without detention.

On June 16, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun) granted bail ex officio for Kim, who had been indicted and detained on charges of carrying out major insurrection-related duties and abuse of authority. The release is conditional, requiring a security deposit and other stipulations.
