Kim Byungki, the newly appointed acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on June 16, "The Democratic Party will become an aircraft carrier that powerfully supports the Lee Jaemyung administration."

Presiding over his first Supreme Council meeting that day, Acting Leader Kim pledged, "As promised to the people, we will move forward boldly to end internal strife and achieve national unity." Previously, on June 13, Kim was elected as the second-term floor leader, defeating Seo Youngkyo in a parliamentary caucus. He said, "We will make every preparation to swiftly and accurately implement urgent supplementary budgets and livelihood reform bills, and to minimize risks such as those related to customs duties."

Earlier that day, before the Supreme Council meeting, Kim visited the National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and wrote in the guestbook, "'A world together,' ending internal strife, restoring livelihoods, national unity. All for the glory of the Republic of Korea."

Immediately after the meeting, he is scheduled to meet Speaker Woo Wonsik at the National Assembly's main building for a courtesy visit. However, discussions on the plenary session schedule to address pending bills such as the Commercial Act amendment are expected to take place after this meeting. A key official from the floor leadership said, "The plenary session schedule will be determined by bipartisan agreement after the floor leader of the People Power Party is elected later this afternoon."

As the first floor leader of the ruling party since the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration, Acting Leader Kim has made it clear that he will focus all efforts on passing legislation to fulfill President Lee's campaign promises. He has already pledged to transform the party's parliamentary structure by establishing a Special Committee on Anti-Constitutional Activities and a Party-Government-Uljiro Committee, in line with President Lee's slogans of ending internal strife and restoring livelihoods.
