Jungri Village in Ulju-gun, Ulsan Designated as "Excellent Dementia Safe Village"

On June 16, Ulju-gun in Ulsan announced that Jungri Village in Samdong-myeon has been designated as a "2025 Excellent Dementia Safe Village" by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

A Dementia Safe Village is a community-based care initiative designed to improve the quality of life for dementia patients and their families, while also reducing the burden of care. It is characterized by active participation of local residents in various activities based on their understanding of dementia.

Jungri Village was designated as Ulju-gun's first Dementia Safe Village in 2019 and has been continuously operated since then. The recent designation as an excellent village was the result of meeting a total of seven criteria: more than one year of operation, regular meetings of the management committee, completion of dementia partner training, securing leading organizations for dementia awareness and certified safe stores, operation of resident programs, and promotional activities.

Ulju-gun plans to operate a "Dementia Awareness Center with Music" in collaboration with the Ulju Cultural Foundation in September, and in October, will carry out mural restoration work in the Dementia Safe Village together with dementia partners.

An official from the county stated, "We will continue to work harder to create a dementia-friendly environment together with residents."
