Inha University has been selected as a recipient university for support in the secondary battery and bio sectors under the Ministry of Education's Advanced Industry Specialization University Support Project.
According to Inha University on the 17th, following its selection in the semiconductor field last year, it has now been chosen as a specialized university in the secondary battery and bio sectors this year. As a result, the university will be able to further accelerate the cultivation of talent for advanced industries, backed by a total project budget of 42 billion won.
Inha University plans to strengthen the operation of its I-BEST (Inha Battery Education and Solution Transfer) program with the goal of fostering professionals who will lead the secondary battery sector with a significant technological edge. This year, Inha University established the first Department of Secondary Battery Convergence in the Seoul metropolitan area, and is building an integrated education system connecting bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. The university is focusing on training convergent professionals optimized for the secondary battery industry in the metropolitan region.
With support from Incheon City, Inha University is currently operating a career transition support project for employees in the secondary battery industry. This year, the university is also running a graduate program aimed at cultivating professionals in secondary battery material and cell manufacturing industries.
In the bio sector, Inha University is maintaining close cooperative relationships with bio companies based in Songdo, such as Samsung Biologics and Celltrion, and is promoting AI-linked convergent education focused on the production and quality control of biopharmaceuticals. To foster convergent talent in the bio field, Inha University established the School of Bio System Convergence last year by integrating the Departments of Biotechnology, Bio-Pharmaceutical Engineering, and Life Sciences.
The university expects that the operation of the bio specialization program will create even greater synergy with the Incheon and Siheung Bio-specialized Complex Project, which was selected last year.
Inha University President Cho Myungwoo said, "Being selected as a specialized university in semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio, which will lead the future of our country, is recognition of Inha University's outstanding curriculum and research capabilities," adding, "As a hub for cultivating talent in advanced industries, we will contribute to the development of the industrial ecosystem through industry-academia cooperation and technological innovation, with a strong sense of responsibility."
