Hyundai Card explained that in May, the company’s overseas personal credit card spending totaled 314.8 billion KRW, an 8.4% increase from the previous month’s 290.4 billion KRW. The number of overseas credit card transactions also rose by 13% during the same period, indicating growth in both transaction volume and value. In particular, the cards were frequently used in sectors related to vacation travel, such as airlines, hotels, and transportation.
As overseas travel-related spending increases, Hyundai Card members' most popular products for travel include the 'Korean Air Card', 'Hyundai American Express Card', 'The Green', and 'NOL Card'. Each product offers differentiated benefits in areas such as airline mileage accumulation, lounge access, hotel stays, and leisure activities.
With the Korean Air Card Edition 2, users can earn unlimited 1 mile per 1,000 KRW spent at all domestic and overseas merchants. An annual bonus of up to 30,000 miles is also provided each year.
The Korean Air Card 120 offers two complimentary visits per year to Incheon Airport lounges, while the Korean Air Card 300 provides ten complimentary visits per year to airport lounges worldwide. The Korean Air Card The First Edition 2 allows for unlimited access to airport lounges globally.
The Hyundai American Express Card Edition 2 provides the global rewards program Membership Rewards (MR) as a standard benefit for every purchase. Users can earn 1 MR point per 1,000 KRW spent.
In particular, Hyundai American Express Card members can convert Membership Rewards points into miles with 17 domestic and international airlines, or into points with five major hotel chains, including Hilton and Marriott. Points can also be exchanged for vouchers at around ten domestic hotels or used to book any of approximately 550,000 hotels worldwide. The Green Card earns double MR points, the Gold Card earns triple, and the Platinum Card earns five times the MR points.
The Green Edition 3, a premium card specialized for travel, offers a base accumulation rate of 1.5%, and provides a special 5% M Point accumulation benefit in travel and overseas categories for monthly spending of 1 million KRW or more. Users can exchange up to 1 million M Points per year for vouchers usable at travel agencies, duty-free shops, and luxury hotels, effectively using them like cash.
The NOL Card allows users to accumulate NOL Points, which can be used like cash on NOL, NOL Interpark, and Triple platforms, when spending in leisure, shopping, and digital content categories.
In addition to card products, Hyundai Card has also introduced travel-focused services. The Hyundai Card Travel Desk Service recently added ‘Hotel Benefit’, which provides special perks such as breakfast and credits when booking hotels and resorts worldwide, and ‘Overseas Golf Service’, which allows real-time reservations at overseas golf courses. Within just eight months of its launch, the cumulative number of uses has approached 10,000, providing Hyundai Card members with a premium travel experience.
Other offerings include partnership services in Japan, Line Pay payment service, and Apple Pay service.
For Apple Pay, users can add it to the New York MTA in the United States, Transport for London in the United Kingdom, and Transport for NSW in Australia, enabling immediate use with Hyundai Card. Users can also add transportation cards such as Suica and PASMO in Japan, or Navigo in France, to Apple Wallet and top them up using Hyundai Card.
A Hyundai Card representative stated, "It appears that members are enjoying the convenience of Apple Pay abroad, as well as overseas services differentiated by 'experience'."
