VQ AI is showing strong performance. As the new government takes office, investor interest in sovereign AI development is increasing. According to securities firms, expectations are rising for 'RDP-Line', a new business launched in 2023, in line with sovereign AI policies, which appears to be influencing the stock price.
As of 9:26 a.m. on the 16th, VQ AI is trading at 1,823 won, up 15.38% from the previous trading day.
VQ AI is the only listed company that has signed a copyright distribution agreement with the Korea Press Foundation. This allows the company to legally distribute and utilize articles from a variety of media outlets.
Kang Mingu, a researcher at IBK Investment & Securities, stated, "So far, only two companies have signed distribution agreements with the Korea Press Foundation, establishing a monopolistic position in the news distribution market," adding, "The company's main services include news distribution, media big data analysis, and the provision of news data for AI training."
He further explained, "AI-SUFFER is a service that generates more than 80% of the company's total revenue," and added, "It supports media big data solution functions such as searching, editing, and clipping news data."
He also emphasized, "President Lee Jaemyung has made AI development one of his core pledges since his candidacy," and "the core of the policy is for the government to take the lead in developing a Korean-style AI that all citizens can use for free."
Kang also noted, "In line with sovereign AI policies, expectations for RDP-Line have also increased," introducing RDP-Line as "a platform that processes news articles and provides them as data for AI development." He added, "The company has successfully supplied data to major conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics, SKT, and KT," and expressed his expectations that, "If sovereign AI development becomes more active in the future, the importance of news data will become even more prominent."
The previous day, President Lee Jaemyung appointed Ha Jungwoo, head of the Naver Cloud AI Innovation Center, as the newly established Chief of AI Future Planning. Ha's early advocacy for 'sovereign AI' is cited as one of the reasons for his selection. Kang Hoonshik, Chief Presidential Secretary, explained, "Chief Ha is an expert who has been at the forefront of proposing sovereign AI, which emphasizes the sovereignty of AI, and has advocated for a virtuous cycle growth strategy in which the state provides support and companies share the results."
Chief Ha believes that, in the process of creating 'Korea's AI', the startup ecosystem will be revitalized, leading to a virtuous cycle effect for the economy.
In a recent private conversation, he said, "The government should secure tens of thousands of the latest AI training GPUs, each costing tens of millions of won, to develop an AI model that is about 95% as capable as ChatGPT, and then distribute it free of charge as open source to countless startups." He further explained, "If the government provides each citizen with an AI voucher worth 50,000 won to encourage the use of AI application apps created by startups, unicorn AI companies will emerge and global venture capital will take notice of Korea."
