Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will expand eligibility for its "Incentive for Introducing a 10 a.m. Start Time System for Parents of Elementary School Students in Small and Medium-Sized Businesses" to include parents of all elementary school grades.
Since February, Suwon City has been providing incentives to small and medium-sized businesses that introduce a 10 a.m. start time system for employees who are parents of first-grade elementary school students, as part of efforts to address the low birth rate. On June 16, the city announced that, ahead of the summer vacation, it has expanded the program so that more parents can benefit.
The program now covers businesses with fewer than 300 employees in the city that implement a one-hour reduced working hours system (10 a.m. start time) for employees who are parents of elementary school students in grades 1 through 6.

To ensure that parent employees can work reduced hours without a pay cut, Suwon City will provide up to 600,000 KRW per employee for two months. Each business can receive support for up to 10 employees, with a total of 100 cases supported citywide.
Applications can be submitted through the "Saebit Toktok" app or on the "Application Submission" board of the website. Required documents include the application form, business registration certificate, and a copy of the employment contract for the employee working reduced hours.
A Suwon City official stated, "We decided to expand the eligibility to help ease the burden on parents raising elementary school children, even if only a little," adding, "We will actively promote and provide information so that parents working in small and medium-sized businesses can benefit from this program."
