Gyeonggi Province will accept applications for the 32nd Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Award until July 31.
The Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Award is a program that recognizes and honors farmers and fishermen in the province who have demonstrated outstanding management performance in agriculture, forestry, livestock, or fisheries, and who have contributed to the sustainable development of agriculture and fisheries in the era of climate crisis.
Gyeonggi Province will select 20 individuals or producer organizations in 15 categories, including food crops.
Eligible applicants are farmers, fishermen, or producer organizations that either operate or are directly engaged in agriculture or fisheries within the province.
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a first-stage document review, followed by a second-stage on-site inspection, and then make the final selection through the Gyeonggi Province Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural, and Food Industry Policy Deliberation Committee. Awardees will receive a plaque for the Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Award and various benefits such as priority support for agricultural funds.
The awardees will be announced in October, and the award ceremony will be held in November on Gyeonggi Province Farmers' Day.
Since 1994, Gyeonggi Province has presented the Gyeonggi Province Farmers and Fishermen Award to a total of 342 individuals or organizations in the province.
Lee Munmu, Director of the Agricultural Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The future of agriculture and fisheries in Gyeonggi Province depends on the farmers and fishermen who work hard in the field," and added, "We hope that this award will widely highlight the dedication and value of farmers and fishermen, and serve as an opportunity to lay the foundation for the development of local agriculture and fisheries."
