SK and AWS to Build 100 MW Data Center in Ulsan with Multi-Trillion Won Investment

According to industry sources on June 15, SK Group plans to hold an inauguration ceremony within this month, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony in August. This is a massive public-private partnership project, with both companies investing several trillion won.

The data center will be established on a 36,000-square-meter site in Hwangseong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. In the first phase, approximately 40 MW will be operational by November 2027, and the facility is scheduled to be completed with a total capacity of 103 MW by February 2029.

This will be the first AI infrastructure in Korea equipped with a 100 MW-class GPU (graphics processing unit)-dedicated facility. Approximately 60,000 GPUs will be deployed.

Yoo Youngsang, CEO of SK Telecom, announced at the beginning of March at 'Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025' that the company plans to build a hyperscale AI data center with 60,000 GPUs through partnerships with global big tech companies.
