Gwangju City announced on the 15th that it held the "Challenge! Dad Childcare Golden Bell" event in collaboration with the Gwangju Women and Family Foundation at the City Hall Citizen Hall on the 14th.
Now in its fourth year, this event was organized to promote a culture of gender-equal family care and to encourage fathers' participation in childcare. The event featured a variety of programs for the whole family to enjoy, including a childcare-related OX quiz, a Golden Bell quiz competition with multiple-choice and short-answer questions, a children's Taekwondo demonstration, a balloon magic show, face painting, and food booths.
After a fierce competition in the finals among eight fathers who passed the preliminary round, the father of Yeong & Ri, who lives in Buk-gu, claimed the final victory. The winner received a travel suitcase set worth 400,000 won, while the runner-up was awarded a noiseless circulator.
All families who participated in the quiz competition received cooler bags, and a lucky draw provided various prizes such as dining vouchers, bedding sets, and book vouchers, which were met with great enthusiasm.
Ko Kwangwan, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, said, "Gwangju City is implementing practical support programs such as public late-night children's hospitals and inpatient child care services to realize 'parenting together.' We will continue to listen to parents' voices and make Gwangju a better city for raising children."
