Sustainable Changes Initiated by University Students Draw Attention
Changwon Special City announced on June 15 that it had selected four teams of university students as "Campus Masters of Carbon Neutral Living" for their proactive efforts in practicing a carbon-neutral lifestyle.
The city expanded its popular "Masters of Carbon Neutral Living" series from last year and is implementing it in a more segmented way this year: Campus Life (June), Workplace Life (August), Daily Life (October), and School Life (December).
A total of 15 teams participated in this "Campus Master" event, presenting creative and practical ideas and examples for carbon neutrality. The teams "Changwon National University Seoyeonwoo, Bae Beomjun, Gosamo" and "Changshin University Naeireumeun Conan Tamjeongi Jo" were ultimately selected.
The winning teams were highly evaluated for their innovative ideas, voluntary actions, and efforts to raise environmental awareness in the local community, leading the way toward a sustainable society.
The winning cases included: ▲ Everyday practices such as using reusable containers, using public transportation, and reusing scrap paper (Changwon National University student Seoyeonwoo); ▲ Spreading carbon-neutral messages through upcycling clothing waste and producing animations (Gosamo team); ▲ Efforts to reduce carbon footprints in digital environments (student Bae Beomjun); ▲ Practicing resource recycling through the reuse and donation of old clothes (Naeireumeun Conan Tamjeongi Jo team).
Participating students shared their thoughts, saying, "We are convinced that small actions can have a positive impact on achieving carbon neutrality," and added, "We hope this activity will motivate more people to protect the environment sustainably."
Choi Jongok, Director of the Climate and Environment Bureau, stated, "Practicing carbon neutrality is an important task to pass on a healthy environment to future generations," and added, "We will continue to develop various participatory programs with citizens for a sustainable Changwon."
The results and winning cases can be found in the City News section of the Changwon City website. Changwon Special City hopes that this will encourage more citizens to participate in carbon-neutral activities.
