According to the city on June 15, this inspection is a proactive measure to prevent urban flooding and protect the safety of citizens, as the frequency of localized heavy rainfall has increased recently due to abnormal weather patterns. The city checked the cleanliness and sediment accumulation in rainwater drains in frequently flooded areas such as Sinchon Intersection, the presence of location guide stickers on rainwater drains, and any damage to other sewer facilities, all to ensure proper drainage functions.

To prevent blockages in rainwater drains during rainfall, the city has established a 'Rainwater Drain Management System' based on public-private cooperation. Through continuous monitoring, swift response, and regular maintenance, the city is proactively addressing roadside flooding and drainage issues. In addition, the city is carrying out various promotional activities, such as attaching guide stickers to rainwater drains, to encourage citizens not to dispose of cigarette butts or other trash into the drains.

Lee Jongdeok, head of the Sewerage Office, stated, "Due to climate change, localized heavy rainfall can occur at any time and in any place, making proactive measures against flooding extremely important." He added, "We will continue to inspect and maintain sewer facilities to protect the lives and property of our citizens."
