Guro-gu Extends COVID-19 Vaccination for Unvaccinated High-Risk Groups Until June 30

Guro-gu, Seoul will extend its COVID-19 vaccination program for the 2024-2025 season in preparation for a possible surge in COVID-19 cases during the summer.

The eligible recipients are seniors aged 65 or older who were born on or before December 31, 1959, immunocompromised individuals, and residents or inpatients of high-risk facilities who have not received a COVID-19 vaccination since October of the previous year. These individuals can receive a free vaccination by bringing a valid ID and visiting a designated medical institution in Guro-gu by June 30.

This round of vaccinations will be limited to the remaining stock of 300 doses. As early depletion is possible, recipients are advised to confirm vaccine availability with the medical institution before visiting. High-risk individuals who have already completed their vaccination can receive both the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine simultaneously during the 2025-2026 season, which begins in October 2025.

In response to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in neighboring countries, the district emphasizes the importance of adhering to personal hygiene guidelines. It is crucial to practice basic respiratory infection prevention measures in daily life, such as wearing masks when going out, washing hands, ventilating indoor spaces, and following proper cough etiquette. Jang Inhong, Mayor of Guro-gu, stated, "Vaccination is essential to protect the health of high-risk groups who are vulnerable to infection," and added, "We will do our utmost to promote the health of our residents."
