Silver in Science & Technology, Bronze in Use of AI
Utilizing Proprietary AI Agent "ChatXAWon"
LG AI Research Institute announced on June 15 that its short documentary "Being the Machine" recently won the Silver Award in the "Science & Technology" category and the Bronze Award in the "Use of Generative AI" category at the 46th Telly Awards.
The Telly Awards, which began in New York, United States in 1979, recognize outstanding video content such as TV programs, documentaries, and commercial content by evaluating creativity, effectiveness of message delivery, and production quality.
The award-winning documentary "Being the Machine" was produced as part of the joint research project between LG and Parsons titled "The Age of Creative Connection: Human Relationships in the Age of AI." The project was overseen by Professor Lim Jeongki, Dean of Strategic Design at Parsons and instructor of design management strategy. LG AI Research Institute's proprietary AI agent service "ChatXAWon" was utilized in the project. The documentary, which runs for less than ten minutes, features a Parsons student asking pre-prepared questions to the AI, with the AI's answers delivered not through a monitor or speaker, but through the words of another student sitting face-to-face. The film explores whether people can emotionally empathize with content generated by AI when it is expressed in the voice of a real human, and whether the emotional connection itself holds value even if the content originates from AI.
