Any Young Single-Person Household Living or Working in the District Can Apply
Gwanak-gu in Seoul will host the nation’s first-ever e-sports tournament (LoLlympics) exclusively for young single-person households. The LoLlympics is not just a simple gaming competition; it is a relationship-centered e-sports event designed to give young people living alone the opportunity to laugh, socialize, and enjoy themselves as a team with people they meet for the first time.
This tournament was planned as part of the district’s “2025 Gwanak Model Single-Person Household Social Network Formation Project.” Eligibility is limited to young single-person households who either reside or spend most of their time in Gwanak-gu. Applications must be submitted individually, and team applications with acquaintances are not permitted.
Notably, this tournament serves as a “social platform” that fosters connections through communication and cooperation centered on e-sports, aiming to promote interaction among participants. To this end, the district will match teams during an offline welcome event through games and activities.
The competition will feature a single title, League of Legends (LoL), with eight teams competing in a tournament format. However, the outcome will not be determined solely by gaming skills. The district will implement a “social mission” system that evaluates teamwork, manners, and creativity, aiming to foster relationship-building and a culture of positive communication beyond e-sports itself.
The tournament will take place at 1:00 p.m. on August 7 at Showtime PC Cafe (1432-7 Nambusunhwan-ro, 2nd floor). Applications can be submitted via the QR code on the promotional poster. Registration is currently open and will close on a first-come, first-served basis.
Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “Gwanak has the highest proportion of young single-person households in the country, making it essential to create new forms of social networks for them. The LoLlympics will be a meaningful first step, connecting neighbors through e-sports and bringing new energy to daily life.”
