Uiseong-gun Holds Academic Conference on Gilt Bronze Crown... Accelerates Push for National Cultural Heritage Designation Gilt Bronze Crown from the Ancient Tomb Cluster in Geumseong-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk

On June 15, Uiseong-gun announced that it would hold an academic conference under the theme "Investigation of the Historical and Academic Value of the Gilt Bronze Crown Excavated from Tomb No. 48 in Daeri-ri, Uiseong" at 2:00 p.m. on June 18 in the auditorium of the Uiseong Jomunguk Museum.

This academic conference has been organized to summarize the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage value of the gilt bronze crown excavated from the ancient tomb cluster in Geumseong-myeon, Uiseong (Daeri-ri Tomb No. 48), and to lay the academic groundwork for its future designation as national cultural heritage.

This gilt bronze crown is an artifact from the late 5th to early 6th century during the Three Kingdoms period and is considered a masterpiece, with intricate openwork designs depicting triangular patterns, phoenix motifs, and dragon motifs on both sides.

To date, only about ten gilt bronze crowns have been excavated nationwide, and among them, the piece from Uiseong is highly regarded in academia for its craftsmanship and level of completion.

At the academic conference, a total of four presentations will be given, starting with "The Gilt Bronze Crown Excavated from Tomb No. 48-1 in Daeri-ri, Uiseong" by Ham Soonseop, former director of the National Gyeongju Museum, followed by a comprehensive discussion on the designation of national cultural heritage.

Kim Jusu, mayor of Uiseong-gun, stated, "Through this academic conference, we aim to widely publicize the historical significance and academic value of the gilt bronze crown and lay the cornerstone for its designation as national cultural heritage," adding, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to promote the brilliant ancient culture of Uiseong-gun across the country."
