Gangseo-gu in Seoul is launching a free suit rental service to help ease the financial burden on young people preparing for employment and to support them in attending interviews with confidence. This initiative was introduced in response to the reality that many young job seekers feel pressure when preparing appropriate attire for interviews.
The service is available to job-seeking youth aged 19 to 39 who reside in Gangseo-gu and have a confirmed job interview date. Applicants can rent interview attire?including a suit jacket and pants or skirt, shirt, blouse, tie, and shoes?free of charge up to three times per year, with each rental lasting two nights and three days.
To apply, candidates must prepare the required documents, such as proof of their scheduled interview, and submit them online through the Gangseo-gu website at least seven days before the interview date. Afterward, they can contact the suit rental company 'Jayjin Homme Magok Branch' (56 Magokseoro, 1st floor) to make a reservation and then visit the location to conveniently pick up the attire.
The service will be available until December this year, but may end earlier if the allocated budget is exhausted. The district is also implementing various support programs for young people, including financial assistance for certificate and language test fees for unemployed youth, and the operation of the 'Gangseo Youth Network' program to encourage greater youth participation in policy-making.
Meanwhile, according to this year's Gangseo-gu youth needs survey, the second most significant financial burden during job searching was preparing interview attire (29.8%), following certificate test fees (30.8%).
Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, stated, "I hope this free suit rental service will provide practical help to young people," adding, "We will continue to implement youth-oriented policies so that young people can focus on preparing for interviews and employment without financial concerns."
