Hampyeong County Selected for Two General Rural and Fishing Village Development Projects Simultaneously Jeonnam Hampyeong County Office building.

On June 14, Jeonnam Hampyeong County announced that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' "2026 Basic Living Hub Development Project for General Rural and Fishing Villages" and has secured a total project budget of 7.5 billion KRW, including national funding.

For this Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' "Basic Living Hub Development Project for General Rural and Fishing Villages," Eomdamyeon and Daedongmyeon were selected. The county plans to implement the project in phases over five years, from 2026 to 2030.

The purpose of this project is to expand living infrastructure in rural areas and to promote balanced regional development and improved residential conditions through a variety of welfare and cultural programs for residents.

To ensure the effective implementation of the project, the county gathered residents' opinions through various preliminary procedures, such as holding project briefings and forming a residents' steering committee, and established the implementation plan based on this feedback.

The first phase, the Eomdamyeon Basic Living Hub Development Project, will be carried out in the Eomdari area and will include the construction of a multi-purpose complex center, including the township office, as well as capacity-building programs for residents. The total budget for this phase is 5.5 billion KRW.

The second phase, the Daedongmyeon project, focuses on expanding residents' access to welfare and cultural opportunities. A total of 2 billion KRW will be invested, mainly in resident-participation projects such as health, welfare, and cultural programs, as well as community events like Eoullim Hanmadang.

Notably, this public contest project is separate from the ongoing Hampyeong County Rural Agreement (2023-2027, total 57.3 billion KRW), and is expected to further strengthen the county's balanced development and the establishment of a sustainable rural area.

County Governor Lee Sangik stated, "Being selected for this public contest project is a valuable achievement accomplished together by the residents and the administration," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of life for our residents and to create a vibrant rural community."
