"Gangseo District to Accelerate Key Local Projects Including Gimpo Airport Complex Development under New Government"

Intensive Discussion on Six Major Tasks Including Balanced Development

On June 13, Gangseo District in Seoul held a strategy meeting to promote local pledge tasks following the inauguration of the new government, discussing ways to accelerate the implementation of six major projects, including the Gimpo Airport complex development, balanced development in Gangseo, and the Gangbuk Cross-City Line.

The meeting focused on strategies to respond to next year's government budget, the establishment of cooperative systems with the central government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and measures to ensure alignment with the new government’s policy direction.


The meeting was attended by Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo District, the deputy mayor, directors of each bureau, and heads of relevant departments. Presentations and discussions were led by the directors in charge. The main agenda items included: ▲resident-friendly complex development of Gimpo Airport and relaxation of height restrictions; ▲the T(Triangle)-Living SOC project for balanced development of the original downtown area; ▲promotion of the Gangbuk Cross-City Line, a key initiative for balanced regional development in Seoul; ▲establishment of a public complex cultural facility on the current Gangseo District Office site; ▲early completion of the resident-friendly Gangseo branch of the Seoul Metropolitan Library; and ▲development of the Magok Research Town project?six key tasks in total.


In particular, regarding Gimpo Airport, the meeting intensively reviewed plans for a UAM (Urban Air Mobility)-linked innovative industry cluster, the establishment of a domestic multimodal transfer facility, and the early implementation of height restriction relaxation to restore property rights for residents. For balanced development in Gangseo, topics included the creation of resident-friendly spaces in the Magok reserved site, remodeling of the Gangseo Residents’ Center, and reconstruction of the former Gangseo Cultural Center.


Mayor Jin Kyohun emphasized, “As the inauguration of the new government is expected to bring changes to national policy, I urge everyone to proactively prepare strategies and projects that can contribute to the growth and development of our district, and to actively pursue fiscal cooperation with the government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government to secure necessary funding.” He further stressed, “Please ensure that projects are implemented swiftly so that residents can truly feel the changes.”


Meanwhile, on June 4, following the inauguration of the new president, Gangseo District held an emergency executive meeting in the district office’s main conference room. At that time, Mayor Jin instructed each department to discuss ways to provide better services to residents by linking with the new government’s policies. The current strategy meeting aimed to find ways to practically connect the six local pledges of the new government with district projects.


Going forward, Gangseo District plans to continue accelerating the six major projects through cooperative channels with the central government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and to prepare detailed implementation plans for each project so that residents can experience tangible changes.
