According to reports from the Associated Press and Times of Israel, immediately after the Israeli attack, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, "We have launched a military operation targeting specific objectives in order to repel Iran's threat to the very existence of Israel."

Prime Minister Netanyahu explained that "We struck at the heart of Iran's nuclear enrichment program," and added that Iranian military commanders and missile programs were also among the targets. He continued, "We are not fighting the people of Iran, but rather the dictatorial regime of Iran," and emphasized, "This operation will continue for as long as necessary, whether it takes days or more."

The Israeli military announced, "Israel has completed the first phase of military strikes against targets related to Iran's nuclear program." Immediately after the attack, the Israeli government closed its airspace, declared a nationwide state of emergency, issued evacuation orders to residents, and convened an emergency cabinet meeting.
