The Only One in Jeonnam... Building a Visual Arts Convergence Education Model
Strengthening Regional Cultural Identity through Participation of Local Artists
The Damyang-gun Cultural Foundation (Chairman Jung Chulwon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on the 13th that it has been finally selected as a hub institution for the "2025 Dream Studio Pilot Project," organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service.
With this selection, the Foundation will serve as the only Dream Studio hub institution in the Jeonnam region. This achievement follows the selection of Jeonnam's "Unique Venues" (Haedong Culture and Arts Village, Dambit Arts Warehouse), the silver award as a "Performing Arts Practice Space Operating Institution" by the Arts Council Korea, and the selection for the "2025 Art Journey" project by the Arts Management Support Center.
Through this project, the Foundation plans to form a group consisting of six visual artists and two planners/educators who are active mainly in the Damyang and Gwangju areas, and to operate a convergence art education model that encompasses various genres.
In particular, artist Seo Sinjeong, who holds the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 53 (Master of Bamboo Craft), will participate to present an education program based on traditional crafts. As a result, art education reflecting the region's unique cultural identity is expected to be realized.
A Foundation representative stated, "The Dream Studio project goes beyond simple experiential education and focuses on a process in which children and adolescents directly practice art together with artists," adding, "We will create a sustainable art education ecosystem through collaboration among local artists, spaces, and planners."
