Suwon City Establishes Support Measures for Seniors Vulnerable to Heat Waves

Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province has established support measures for elderly people vulnerable to heat waves.

On June 13, Suwon City announced that it has designated the period from June to September as the "Protection Measures Period for Vulnerable Elderly Against Heat Waves" and has set up a reporting system for damages and major incidents affecting vulnerable seniors.

Additionally, the city has developed a heat wave information delivery system to ensure that information can be quickly communicated through an emergency contact network when a heat wave advisory is issued. Suwon City will also provide information on designated cooling centers for seniors.

Furthermore, the city will inspect 516 senior cooling centers, provide support for air-conditioning costs, and use care service agencies to monitor the safety of 7,631 seniors living alone.
