On June 11, the Daegu Police Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Daegu Credit Guarantee Foundation and the Daegu branch of Korea Legal Aid Corporation for the prevention of illegal financial crime victimization and support for affected small business owners.
The purpose of this agreement is to protect citizens and self-employed individuals from various financial crimes, such as voice phishing and illegal loans, and to help victims return to their daily lives as quickly as possible through practical support in the event of damage.
Under the agreement, the Daegu Police Agency will strengthen its investigation system to crack down on illegal financial crimes and enhance protection for victims.
The Daegu Credit Guarantee Foundation will provide tailored financial support, such as policy funds and management stabilization funds, to small business owners who have suffered losses. The Daegu branch of Korea Legal Aid Corporation will offer free legal consultations and litigation support, thereby supporting a legal protection system.
In addition, the three organizations plan to jointly conduct campaigns to prevent illegal financial crimes and will continue to carry out educational and promotional activities to raise public awareness.
Lee Seunghyeop, Chief of the Daegu Police Agency, stated, "This agreement lays the foundation for victims of illegal financial crimes to receive prompt and systematic assistance. We will do our utmost to strengthen a victim-centered support system in close cooperation with the local community and to make Daegu a safer city."
The Daegu Police Agency also plans to continue expanding an integrated victim support system that encompasses both legal protection and economic recovery by collaborating with related organizations in the region.
