Slapped the Victim's Face Six Times and Dropped Their Phone
"Admit to the Crime, But the Victim Spoke Sexually First"
A prison sentence has been requested for a reality show contestant who was indicted on charges of assault, including slapping someone six times. The defendant, identified as Choi, previously appeared as Jeong Sook on Season 10 of the reality show "I Am Solo."
On June 12, Judge Park Kyungmo of the Daegu District Court Criminal Division 2 held a trial for Choi, who was indicted on charges including assault. Regarding the prosecution's allegations, Choi stated, "I admit to the crime. Although there is no audio recording, the victim spoke to me in a sexual manner first," and added, "I am in a disadvantageous position. I feel wronged," claiming there are extenuating circumstances.
When the court asked about the possibility of a settlement, Choi replied, "I tried to contact the victim several times to reach a settlement, but the condition was not about money; it was that I should not appear on TV anymore, so we could not come to an agreement."
In his final statement, Choi said, "In any case, I am sorry. I have never done anything like this before," and added, "The victim acted toward me in an excessively sexual manner, so I feel there is an unfair aspect. I am sorry."
Choi is accused of slapping the victim's left cheek six times and damaging the victim's mobile phone by dropping it on the floor. He was also brought to trial for allegedly insulting the victim by calling them a "thug" in front of bystanders.
The prosecution requested a six-month prison sentence for Choi, and the sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 24 at 2:00 p.m.
