The Chungnam Provincial Council announced on June 12 that it has launched a special committee to support the successful hosting of the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo, and held the committee's first meeting on the same day.
During the meeting, council member Yoon Kihyung (Nonsan 1, People Power Party) was appointed as chairperson, and council member Oh Inhwan (Nonsan 2, Democratic Party of Korea) was appointed as vice chairperson.
The special committee, consisting of 13 provincial council members including the chairperson, plans to support the successful hosting of the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo, establish a foundation for the sustainable development of the strawberry industry, and promote regional development and economic revitalization.
The term of office for the special committee members is one year, until June 30, 2026.
The Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo is an international event aimed at elevating Chungnam as a global hub for the strawberry industry and strengthening the future competitiveness of local agriculture. The special committee plans to systematically provide policy and financial support, secure national funding, and expand infrastructure.
Chairperson Yoon Kihyung stated, "The Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo is a valuable opportunity to showcase Chungnam's agricultural competitiveness both domestically and internationally," and added, "We will do our utmost, centering on the special committee, to devise concrete support measures so that the expo can provide tangible benefits to the local economy and rural communities."
