Gwangsan District in Gwangju to Hold 2025 Yong-A Literary Festival on June 21

Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on June 12 that it will hold the 2025 Yong-A Literary Festival under the theme "Early Summer Poetry Garden" at Sochon Art Factory on June 21.


The Yong-A Literary Festival is an event held to honor the literary spirit of local lyric poet Park Yongcheol and to provide an opportunity for citizens to enjoy literature together. The festival will feature a performance stage, a commemorative ceremony, original poetry set to music, and poetry recitations.

On-site, there will be more than 10 experience booths, including exhibitions, caricature drawing, four-cut photo booths, and balloon art. At the Cube Art Museum, media art works created with immersive media will also be showcased. The 34th National Baekiljang Contest in honor of Park Yongcheol will take place on the same day starting at 1 p.m., and is open to all citizens in both poetry and prose categories. Winners will receive awards such as the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award.


Applications for the Baekiljang contest can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Gwangsan District website and sending it via email by June 15, or by registering on-site by 2 p.m. on the day of the event. District Mayor Park Byungkyu stated, "I hope this literary festival will enhance pride in our local culture and provide an opportunity for empathy through literature."
