The 17th KMBA National Hair Skills Competition was held over two days, June 9 and 10, at the Seongnam Multipurpose Gymnasium in Daejeon.

The KMBA National Hair Skills Competition, the most prestigious beauty skills contest in Korea, is jointly sponsored by the Korea Committee for the International Skills Olympics, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. It is held annually to discover outstanding beauty professionals with practical skills and creativity.

Moon Suin, a second-year student in the Department of Beauty Care at Silla University, participated in this year’s competition and received Gold Prizes in both the Iron Winding category at the barber level and the Round (Short Bob) category, being recognized for both professionalism and artistry. She was also honored with the Grand Prize, which is the President’s Award from the Korea Committee for the International Skills Olympics.

Moon Suin’s outstanding achievements were supported by the guidance of Professor Kim Hyehyun, an expert in the beauty and barbering fields at Silla University. Professor Kim, who holds nationally certified licenses in both beauty and barbering, provided customized practical training, theoretical education, and field-oriented beauty education, all of which contributed to Moon Suin’s success at this competition.

Upon receiving the Grand Prize and Gold Prizes, Moon Suin expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am delighted that my efforts have borne fruit, and I sincerely thank Professor Kim Hyehyun for her passionate guidance."

Lee Jaehwa, head of the Department of Beauty Care at Silla University, stated, "Moon Suin’s awards are proof of both the excellence of our curriculum and the capabilities of our students. Our goal is to nurture convergent talents who possess not only technical skills but also creativity and problem-solving abilities. We will continue to support our students in participating in various competitions and growing into professionals who will lead the beauty industry."
