LS Marine Solution Secures Leadership in Korea's Largest Offshore Wind Power Project

Selected as Preferred Negotiation Partner for the Haesong Offshore Wind Power Project
Introduction of Korea's Only HVDC Submarine Cable Laying Vessel

LS Marine Solution has been selected as the preferred negotiation partner for the 'Haesong Offshore Wind Power Project,' the largest offshore wind power project in Korea, further strengthening its leadership in the offshore wind sector.

On June 12, LS Marine Solution announced that it had been chosen as the preferred negotiation partner for the transportation and installation of submarine cables for the Haesong Offshore Wind Power Project. The Haesong Offshore Wind Power Complex will consist of two 504MW-class sites off the west coast of Sinan County, Jeollanam-do, with a total capacity of 1GW. This is enough to produce the same amount of electricity as a single nuclear power plant.

LS Marine Solution plans to carry out the entire process of building both internal and external networks, including marine surveys, submarine cable laying and burial, and connection testing. In particular, the company aims to demonstrate its advanced construction capabilities in deep-sea and long-distance waters by utilizing a newly built, domestically unique vessel dedicated to high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable laying.

LS Marine Solution has accumulated specialized submarine cable installation technology and expertise over the past 30 years by participating in national power infrastructure projects such as the Jeju-mainland grid connection and the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Power Phase 1 project.

The Haesong Offshore Wind Power Complex is being managed and invested in by CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), a global green energy investment and development company. COP (Copenhagen Offshore Partners), an offshore wind developer under CIP, is handling project development tasks such as permitting and technology development.

Byungok Kim, CEO of LS Marine Solution, stated, "Being selected as the preferred negotiation partner is the result of proving our technological capabilities and reliability through the successful completion of the Jeonnam Offshore Wind Power Phase 1 project. We will further strengthen our global competitiveness by collaborating with world-class development and investment partners on the Haesong project."
