The joint patrol included over 300 citizens, including the Joint Autonomous Crime Prevention Patrol Team and 20 teams from the Wonju City Companion Dog Patrol. Participants were divided into five groups to inspect safety blind spots in the area and carry out a campaign for a safe companion dog culture.

In addition, a variety of local organizations, including the Community Leaders’ Council, NH Nonghyup Wonju Branch, the Wonju Citizen Participation Group for a Women-Friendly City, and students from Halla University, participated in the patrol, further emphasizing the significance of community-based public safety activities.

The Joint Autonomous Crime Prevention Patrol Team, launched in February 2023, has been conducting monthly joint patrols with citizens as part of the 8th popularly elected administration’s pledge to realize a “Safe City Wonju.” Through safety activities that citizens can feel in their daily lives, the team has contributed to crime prevention and the protection of socially vulnerable groups. To date, a total of over 4,000 people have participated in 22 patrols.

Mayor Kangsu Won stated, “We will strengthen patrol activities by uniting the public, private sector, and police so that every citizen can feel safe in their daily lives,” and added, “We ask for continued interest and participation so that citizen-led safety cultures, such as the Companion Dog Patrol, can take root.”
