Global Restaurant Collaboration, Part 2
Self-Service Sauce Bar Introduced in Cafeteria
Traditional Face-Changing and Noodle-Pulling Performances Also Featured
On June 12, Samsung Welstory announced that it will introduce authentic mala hot pot from Haidilao, China’s leading hot pot franchise, at its cafeterias as part of its global restaurant collaboration initiative.
Haidilao is a global brand that operates over 1,400 stores in 14 countries worldwide. It has built a loyal following and contributed to the popularization of hot pot by offering the authentic taste of mainland China’s mala hot pot and a customizable self-service sauce bar.
Samsung Welstory has recreated Haidilao’s unique features so that customers can fully experience its appeal at the cafeteria without visiting a Haidilao location. To faithfully reproduce the flavor of Haidilao’s mala hot pot, it uses the signature mala soup base, key secret seasonings, and peanut sesame zhima sauce as exclusive products for the cafeteria. It also sources specialty ingredients that are rarely found in food service operations, such as fu zhu (dried bean curd sticks), Lingling roll (fried tofu skin roll), and coconut milk.
In addition, Samsung Welstory has set up Haidilao’s iconic self-service sauce bar in the cafeteria, allowing customers to customize their own hot pot. The self-service bar features 15 types of sauces and introduces recommended sauce combinations favored by Haidilao enthusiasts, making it easy for first-time customers to enjoy the experience.
A Haidilao representative will visit food service clients to present traditional Chinese performances, including Bian Lian (face-changing) and noodle-pulling shows. In partnership with the Chinese Cultural Center, with which Samsung Welstory has signed a business agreement, the cafeteria will be decorated to evoke the atmosphere of mainland China and will host seasonal events, offering customers a variety of unique experiences.
Since the beginning of this year, Samsung Welstory has been strengthening collaborations with global restaurants from different countries. In its first global restaurant collaboration, which began in February, Samsung Welstory introduced Japanese local dishes such as Ichiran’s tonkotsu ramen, shabu udon from Kodokuno Gourmet: The Movie, and motsunabe from Yamaya. As a result, the number of meals served at the collaboration menu corner increased by an average of 44%. Following the collaboration with Japanese restaurants, Samsung Welstory aims to continue this positive customer response by partnering with Haidilao, a leading Chinese restaurant, as its second country in the global restaurant collaboration series.
A Samsung Welstory representative stated, "We planned this collaboration after receiving feedback from customers who wanted to experience authentic mala cuisine at the cafeteria," adding, "We will continue to introduce renowned restaurants from various countries, such as Singapore and the United States, so that customers can enjoy global cuisine and feel as if they are traveling abroad while dining at the cafeteria."
