According to the report, President Xi met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who visited China from June 2 to 4 (local time), on June 4.
The meeting took place at Zhongnanhai, the residence of current and former top Chinese leaders, rather than the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, which is usually used to receive foreign dignitaries. This choice has led to various speculations.
Meanwhile, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov explained details of the summit between the two leaders in an interview with Belarusian state television, according to the Belarusian state news agency BelTA.
According to his explanation, President Xi told President Lukashenko at the time, "My office is right next door," and added, "This is the first time I am welcoming you here."
President Xi also said, "My friend, we have a special relationship. That is why this time we will have a family-style dinner, and my daughter will also attend a family-style dinner with a foreign head of state for the first time."
After approximately two and a half hours of talks with President Xi, President Lukashenko told reporters, "This is a small family-style dinner," emphasizing, "It is not an official meeting or a business-related meeting, but a family-style dinner."
BelTA noted that this was the first time a summit between the leaders of the two countries was held at Zhongnanhai, attributing special significance to the event as a reflection of the unique bond and friendship between the two leaders.
China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on June 4 that President Xi emphasized that China and Belarus are true friends and good partners.
However, Mingze did not appear in any photos of the meeting released to the media.
Mingze, who was born on June 25, 1992, has maintained a low-key public profile and has not appeared at official events.
In the early 2010s, when her father was vice president, she attended Harvard University in the United States under an alias, but university officials and some professors were aware of her true identity. After graduating from Harvard in 2014, she returned to China.
It is known that her grandfather, Xi Zhongxun (1913-2002), gave her the name Mingze, which means "to become a pure and useful person for society."
