On June 9, the commemorative ceremony for the 80th Oral Health Day was held at the main auditorium on the first floor of Busan City Hall.
Oral Health Day, which was established as a statutory commemorative day to raise public awareness about oral health and to encourage preventive oral health practices, is observed every year on June 9 with a variety of promotional and educational events held nationwide.
This year’s event, held under the slogan "80 Years of Oral Health Together, A Partner in the Age of 100," aimed to promote oral health and the importance of oral health care to local residents, and to encourage the adoption of healthy oral hygiene habits.
On this day, Professor Kyungae Jang of the Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University was recognized as a distinguished contributor to oral health and received the Busan Mayor's Commendation for her contributions to dental hygiene education, her expertise in clinical practice, her active participation in community oral health projects and policy development, and her efforts to address gaps in oral health care and expand practice-oriented education.
Professor Jang stated, "I will not forget my professionalism and social responsibility as a dental hygienist, and I will continue to work harder to improve the oral health of local residents and advance the field of dental hygiene."
