The Education and Culture Committee of the Gwangju City Council, chaired by Myung Jin, visited Unsuyuchiwon and Bitgoeul On School on the 11th to listen to on-site feedback.

During the visit, the committee members inspected the educational environments of Unsuyuchiwon, a public standalone kindergarten that opened last March in Seonun 2 District, and Bitgoeul On School, an online school established to guarantee students' subject selection rights following the full implementation of the high school credit system this year.

At Unsuyuchiwon, the committee members thoroughly examined the facilities where about 50 children are currently enrolled and took time to hear various opinions and the current status of the kindergarten from those on site. They also checked whether there had been any damage caused by the recent fire, as the kindergarten is located adjacent to the Kumho Tire factory.

Afterwards, at Bitgoeul On School, the committee members inspected the overall facilities, including studios where online classes are held for subjects that are difficult to offer at regular schools, to ensure there were no shortcomings. They also listened to on-site feedback regarding the status of academic and course offerings and the operation of the curriculum.

Chairperson Myung Jin stated, "This on-site visit was arranged to directly check the educational sites of Unsuyuchiwon, which opened this year, and Bitgoeul On School, which will play an important role with the full implementation of the high school credit system from this year, and to listen to the voices from the field." He added, "As the school-age population continues to decline, the importance of early childhood education is increasing, and with the full implementation of the high school credit system, the role of online schools is expected to expand. We will continue to pay close attention to these issues, pursue policies that can provide support, and strive to improve difficulties faced on the ground."
