On June 11, Gwangmyeong City held a completion ceremony for the 'Gwangmyeong Infectious Disease Response Center,' built on the site of the Gwangmyeong City Health Center in Haan-dong, with Mayor Park Seungwon and officials from related organizations in attendance. The newly constructed center will serve as a key base for systematic response and prevention, including on-site response, diagnosis, and management in the event of an infectious disease outbreak.
The center, which was completed this time after construction began in May of last year with a total project cost of 3.4 billion KRW, consists of one above-ground floor with a total floor area of 446 square meters. Inside the center, specialized spaces have been established to operate a screening clinic, including a general situation room, specimen collection room, consultation room, and X-ray room.
The city plans to focus facilities, organizations, and systems for infectious disease response at the center, establishing a response system that enables one-stop infectious disease management, from epidemiological investigations to testing and consultation, isolation, and linkage to transport and treatment.
After a preparation period, the city plans to officially begin operating the Infectious Disease Response Center starting next month.
Mayor Park Seungwon of Gwangmyeong City stated, "With the construction of this center, we are now able to protect the health and safety of our citizens in a more systematic way," adding, "We will strengthen the local healthcare system centered on the center and realize a healthy city where citizens can feel safe."
