Meeting Between Rebuilding Korea Party and Senior Secretary Woo Sangho on June 11
Kim Sunmin, acting leader of the Rebuilding Korea Party, met with Woo Sangho, Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, and said, "I trust that the Presidential Committee for Major Social Reform will be established to fully reflect the will of the people." Woo responded positively, saying, "I will convey this to the President."
On June 11 at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Acting Leader Kim met with Senior Secretary Woo and stressed the need to establish a Presidential Committee for Major Social Reform, stating, "What citizens hoped for during the process of overcoming the rebellion was a major reform of society."
He also said, "I believe that a permanent consultative body between the ruling party, opposition parties, and the government will soon be established," adding, "Compared to previous Senior Secretaries for Political Affairs, I expect you to demonstrate your outstanding experience and ability to cooperate, and to serve as a strong bridge between the National Assembly and the President."
Senior Secretary Woo said, "President Lee asked me to convey his gratitude to the party members and officials who worked hard during this election campaign," and promised, "Regarding the establishment of a presidential committee for major social reform, which is both a presidential pledge and a part of the agreement, I will report this to President Lee and ensure it proceeds without delay."
Woo also mentioned Cho Kuk, the former party leader who led the founding of the Rebuilding Korea Party, saying, "He and I have been very close, and although he is going through a difficult time now, I would like to offer my condolences once again. There is a list of promises made with the Rebuilding Korea Party during the presidential campaign, and while we need to see how these will be fulfilled, my commitment to working together remains unchanged."
