On June 11, Jeollanamdo held a launch ceremony for the "Our Jeonnam Hopeful Summer ChokChokChok Sharing Campaign" at the provincial government office in collaboration with the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea. The province announced that it would begin a focused fundraising drive to help neighbors in vulnerable groups stay healthy during the heatwave season.
The "Our Jeonnam Hopeful Summer ChokChokChok Sharing Campaign" aims to expand fundraising activities, which were previously held only at the end and beginning of the year, into the summer season, thereby encouraging donations from both businesses and residents. The campaign will run for 35 days until July 15 to promote a culture of sharing.
Approximately 50 people attended the launch ceremony, including Jeollanamdo Governor Kim Youngrok, Jeollanamdo Provincial Council Chairman Kim Taekyun, Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea Chairman Noh Dongil, Jeonnam Honor Society Representative Heo Youngho, Jeonnam Development Corporation President Jang Chungmo, Hanbit Nuclear Power Headquarters External Cooperation Director Choi Hoon, as well as representatives from donor and beneficiary companies and volunteers.
The event began with a welcome speech by Community Chest Chairman Noh Dongil, followed by congratulatory remarks from Governor Kim Youngrok and Chairman Kim Taekyun. The ceremony then included the first donation handover and distribution ceremony for the campaign, and a performance where summer supply kits were packed for vulnerable groups.
In particular, the Jeonnam Development Corporation’s donation of 500 million won was designated for the province’s premium welfare brand, Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force, and will be used as project funds for identifying households in crisis, providing livelihood support, and improving living inconveniences.
Additionally, to improve transportation welfare for elderly people with limited mobility, one compact vehicle was provided to Suncheon Yegwang Nursing Home. To promote volunteer activities, one SUV was given to the Jeonnam Volunteer Center. Furthermore, summer supply kits worth 240 million won will be provided to about 2,200 vulnerable households to help them spend the summer safely and healthily.
