Expanded from 9 to 18 Holes
Upgraded Restrooms and Drainage Facilities
Seo-gu District in Gwangju (Mayor Kim Ikang) has expanded Deokheung Park Golf Course from its original 9 holes to an 18-hole facility.
On June 11, Seo-gu announced that it held a completion ceremony for the expansion of Deokheung Park Golf Course to support healthy leisure activities for local residents. The ceremony was attended by Seo-gu Mayor Kim Ikang, Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung, lawmaker Yang Bunam, Seo-gu Park Golf Association President Kim Il, and approximately 300 residents.
The district explained that, as park golf has recently gained popularity as a recreational sport enjoyed by people of all ages and the demand for the facility has surged, it invested a total of 580 million KRW to add a new B course (9 holes) covering 9,559 square meters adjacent to the existing A course (9 holes) at Deokheung Park Golf Course.
As a result, Deokheung Park Golf Course has been reborn as Gwangju's leading park golf facility with a full 18-hole course. The expansion project also included the improvement of various amenities such as restrooms, landscaping trees, and drainage facilities, creating a more pleasant and convenient environment for users.
Previously, the district had also focused on improving user-centered services by transitioning Deokheung Park Golf Course to direct management and introducing a convenient payment system (kiosk) last year.
Mayor Kim Ikang stated, "Park golf is a healthy sport for communication that transcends generations and can be enjoyed by everyone," and added, "I hope Deokheung Park Golf Course will become Seo-gu's representative recreational sports destination, where all residents can freely visit and share health and vitality."
